Fishing, sailing – and just being on the beach – are important activities in Bayfield (on Lake Huron), as they are in Aldeburgh (on the North Sea). Our four young artists entertained the audience to close the first weekend of the 3rd annual Bayfield Festival of Song in a varied sequence of music relating to marine topics – there were songs in English, French, German, Venetian dialect, Jersey French and Ojibway; we also included an overture sketched in the Hebrides by a sea-sick Felix Mendelssohn.
