Drawn from Life | Walter Hall, Toronto
An entertainment drawn from French literature and music of the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries

date: November 3, 1996

Our programme sought to draw parallels between two periods of French culture. First, we visited the baroque era, the world of Versailles; after intermission, we went to the early 20th century, when a fascination for the earlier period developed, together with a revival of ideas of the fête galante. We were very happy that, joining our two fine singers, we performed with two other friends and leading members of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Jeanne Lamon and Christina Mahler. The distinguished actress Diana Leblanc read literary extracts which included letters of Madame de Sévigné and memoirs of the Duc de Saint-Simon.
