Recital: James Westman – December 9, 1997 | Glenn Gould Studio, Toronto
A variety of songs for baritone and piano in English, German, Russian and French

date: December 9, 1997

On his way to becoming one of Canada’s most successful operatic baritones, James Westman presented three of his favourite song-cycles, by Beethoven, Butterworth and Ravel. Beginning with some “show-tunes” by Purcell and including a group of Rachmaninov’s greatest songs, he ended with music by English composers in anticipation of the Christmas season.
