A varied programme of songs and arias from three centuries and in four languages
date: December 1, 1994
One of our most versatile singers, busy on both concert and opera stages, presented music in some her favourite genres. Opera provided her first group by Handel and also her encore. Between these, she visited quasi-dramatic songs by Richard Strauss, Rossini and Chabrier. The second half also included an intriguing cycle by Canadian composer Imant Raminsh, settings of poetry by e.e.cummings, followed by a group of Schoenberg’s surprisingly (and outrageously) greasepaint-influenced Cabaret Songs.
