Commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Town Hall, Bayfield, and the 25th anniversary of the Aldeburgh Connection

The 1st annual Bayfield Festival of Song closed with a wide-ranging collection of songs, taking in British and Canadian folksongs, 19th and 20th century ballads and popular songs, together with European art-songs which were composed in the year of the building of the Bayfield Town Hall, 1882. The programme (performed by our four visiting young artists) ended with some excerpts from All Around the Circle, a cycle of Canadian folksong arrangements commissioned by the Aldeburgh Connection in 1988 – this was designed as a celebration of our own 25th anniversary taking place in 2007. Our programme note ended thus: “Thank you for coming to join us – see you next June!”
